September 11: Read 2 Samuel 22:1-4

by Brenda Bowers PhD on September 11, 2020

David witnessed plenty of trouble during his time as king, but he also experienced being a man after God’s own heart. In his humility, he recognized that there were times when the Lord rendered mercy upon him when justice would have been appropriate.

In this text, King David escaped the hands of his enemies, including those of Saul who tried to kill him. David in turn wrote a praise to his Deliverer, which is also reflected in Psalm 18. He serenades the Lord by calling Him his Rock, Strength, Fortress, Shield, Horn of Salvation, High Tower, and Refuge. David knew that calling on the Lord would result in him being saved from his enemies.

Do you realize that there is a silent, safe, hiding place available in the turmoil of life’s storms? Christ is our Refuge.
