Jeremiah wrote not only the book that bears his name but also Lamentations (book of grief and sorrow). It discusses many calamities of the Lord’s people and how they looked to their Father for mercies instead of their earned justice. In the three verses we are reading today, the prophet was explaining how bleak things were, but also that he understood life would be much worse if God had not been merciful.
God’s compassion not only never fails, it is renewed every morning because His faithfulness toward us is great!
Instead of staring into a bottomless pit of hopelessness, are you looking up, seeking the Master? He is waiting to dry the tears from your eyes and to give you joy in place of your lamentation!
